Mano Maritime was founded by Mordechai Mano (1922-1969) in 1966, after a previous company, Mediterranean Seaways (founded 1956), which he established in partnership with the Ofer Brothers Group was dissolved. Mediterranean Seaways’s first ships were: Eyal; Carmella; Malkah and Liora (Malkah and Liora were named after Mordechai Mano daughters, while Eyal and Liroa were named after Yuli Ofer's children). After the death of Mordechai Mano, his son Moshe Mano took over and further developed the company to become Israel's second largest shipping company and the only Israel based cruise ships operator.[3]
